We’re all in manufacturing now.
It’s been a while since I shared any Podcast news on my Medium account. Back in September, I launched a new weekly show with Faye Holland — Cambridge Tech Podcast — which pretty much does what it says, covering all things Tech in Cambridge, UK.
Despite being only a few months old, we have had the delight to interview some truly amazing guests and report from a number of entrepreneurial events happening around the city of Cambridge.
Yesterday, episode 13 went out, with Tim Minshall, who is the Dr John C Taylor Professor of Innovation and Head of Institute for Manufacturing, University of Cambridge.
In a wide-ranging conversation we discuss a breadth of topics covering engineering, manufacturing and innovation, including:
- Why he carries a kettle switch around with him!
- The role of Ifm
- Investor sentiment for manufacturing vs. software
- The German model of medium-sized firms
- The perception of engineering and the knock-on effect at school level
- STEM and skills supply
- Logistics and supply chain
- Sustainability
- Can Cambridge make a difference?
- Tim’s upcoming book
